Friday Night @ ROM (Feb 6th)

#FNLROM will be back for one night only this winter

A dreary month, a chilly evening – warm it up  at this  Carnival-themed FNL! With more of the unique mix of live music, dancing, eclectic eats and drinks, gallery activities and unexpected experiences which have made FNL Toronto’s most unique social destination.

Playing Mas and dressing up? We’d love to see your costume (it’s optional) — but for the security of our collections, please leave face masks and props at home.

The early-bird (online) tickets for this event have flown. However, there will be plenty of tickets available at the door. These will be on sale from 7 pm until capacity is reached, so we recommend arriving shortly before 7 pm. Join the “NEED’EM” line to the east of the Museum’s main entrance.

Tickets: $12 adults, $10 seniors/students, ROM Members free

Level 4: RBC Glass Room

Thought Swap presented by ROM Young Patrons Circle (YPC)  (7-11 pm)

Theatrical Performance: Sebastien Heins  (8:30-9 pm)

Jamaican-Canadian actor and graduate of the National Theatre School of Canada, Sebastien took his one-man stage show Brotherhood: The Hip Hopera to New York City, earning him the Best Emerging Artist award from the United Solo Festival. With non-stop high-energy dancing, miming, rapping and singing, Brotherhood tells a compelling story in rhyme about the unlikely journey of two brothers who were deeply immersed in hip hop and R&B music: how they were torn apart and brought back together again. A must-see!

Musical Artist: Luanda Jones  (9:30-10 pm)

Brazilian singer/songwriter uses influences of past and current Bossa Nova stars, Gilberto Gil and Fred Martins and brings her unique blend of suave jazz-inflected vocals and stylized guitar harmonies to heat up the Glass Room tonight.

She will be playing with Ian De Souza and Riquinho.

House DJ: Jason Palma  (7-11 pm)

A consummate DJ and co-owner of Toronto’s vinyl institution, Play de Record (Toronto’s #1 source for producers, DJs and music lovers). Host/creator of Higher Ground radio show on CIUT.FM every Thursday night.
